Counselling offers an opportunity to discuss and explore issues that are in the present, such as loss. Counselling ultimately leads to a greater sense of inner control and well being both emotionally and physically. Typically counselling is short-term.
Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to explore issues in more depth, often identifying a central difficulty located in early experience that contributes to repetitive cycles in our responses. Psychotherapy offers new opportunities for emotional assimilation and insight. Typically psychotherapy is long-term.
As a therapist I make use of person-centred, psychodynamic and systemic principles.
